Prominent Kings In The Bible
Saul happens to be the first king to rule the Kingdom of Israel and Judah. Details of his life story can be found in the Books of Samuel. Saul was chosen king both by the judge Samuel and by public acclamation. Saul was similar to the charismatic judges who preceded him in the role of governing. His chief contribution, however, was to defend Israel against its many enemies, especially the Philistines.

David, was the second ruler of the united kingdom of ancient Israel and Judah. He founded the Judaean dynasty and united all the tribes of Israel under a single monarch. His son Solomon expanded the empire that David built. David is an important figure in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Following Saul and Jonathan killed in battle, David is selected as King. David captures Jerusalem, bringing the Ark of the Covenant into the city, and building the kingdom established by Saul.
Solomon, akso known in Hebrew as “Shlomo,” was the Israelite king who built the first Temple of Jerusalem and who is revered in Judaism and Christianity for his wisdom and in Islam as a prophet. Solomon was popular for his wisdom, he succeeded his father, King David.
